Poultry Show

June 10 @ 9 a.m. Hamlet Fairgrounds

Youth are ready to present their best so come cheer them on! This event is free and open to the public. A sale of champions will follow the show. All birds remain with the exhibitor.

Piedmont Research Station

June 13 @ 8:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m. – $10

Take a tour of the farm by riding on a tractor trolly, see dairy cows, the poultry unit, and crops. Learn how research is conducted and how the information impacts our farming practices. Bring a bag lunch and water bottle.

Millstone Day Camp

June 15 @ 9 a.m.- 4:30 p.m. – $10

Ages 5-14. Enjoy a day of camp activities including swimming, archery, lake and field games, ropes course, and more. Bring a bag lunch without nuts, bathing suit (one piece for girls), towel, shoes that can get wet, and water bottle. Hats and sunscreen are optional.

New Hanover Arboretum & Beach

June 16 @ 8 a.m. – 5 p.m

Tour the arboretum and enjoy a picnic lunch in the beautiful gardens. Please bring a drink and bag lunch. After the tour, we will travel to the Wrightsville Beach Public Access and enjoy the beach. We will only swim if there is a lifeguard on duty. Bring a towel and bathing suit or clothes that can get wet.

District Activity Day

June 17

After competing at the county level, youth will travel to West Rowan High School to present their talent or perform their speech in front of a panel of judges. First and second place youth in each age group and category advance to the state competition in July. Registration deadline is May 26.

Residential Camp @ Millstone

June 25-30 or July 9-14  – $450

Ages 8-14. Enjoy making new friends in the great outdoors! Activities include archery, canoeing, swimming, ropes course, arts and crafts, field games, and more!

Our County Tour

June 20 @ 8:30 a.m. – 3:00 p.m.

Learn more about the wonderful county you live in by taking a fun, hands on tour. We will be visiting our Research Station, a farm, Hinson Lake, local government offices, and more.

It’s Officially Summer

June 21 @ 11 a.m-11 p.m. – $25

Let’s bring in summer with a NC State University tour and Howling Cow ice cream, a tour of Duke Gardens and Chapel, and a Durham Bulls baseball game. This event has no age restrictions but is a long day. The college tour is appropriate for ages 10 and up. In addition to the registration fee, bring money for meals and souvenirs.

4-H Congress Teens Only

July 22-25 – $150 plus spending money

Spend 4 days on NC State’s campus, attend various leadership workshops, elect state officers, enjoy state presentations, attend the 4-H gala, and participate in the candle lighting ceremony.
