Farm-City Week 2015 ~
"Celebrating Richmond's Bountiful Harvest"

Farm-City Week is a national observance celebrating the relationship between agricultural producers and consumers that is held annually the week of Thanksgiving. Richmond County traditionally takes this time to plan events that reflect the significance of the agricultural industry to the economy and the quality of life. A committee of representatives from the USDA Farm Service Agency, NRCS, Richmond Soil and Water and Richmond Cooperative Extension are planning the annual Farmers’ Day Parade and Farm-City Luncheon. The parade will take place in Ellerbe on Saturday, November 21st at 11:00AM. Following the parade, vendors will gather behind Town Hall to sell crafts, food and other items. New this year, entries in the parade will be judged and prizes awarded in the following categories: Walking/Drill, Automobile, Bicycle/ATV, Float, Youth, Equestrian, Tractor and Safety (Fire, etc.). For an entry form please contact a parade committee member: Willa Spivey @ 997-5551, Jamie Lambeth, Tami Thomas or Amy Yaklin @ 895-3950 Ext. 2. The Farm-City Luncheon will take place Monday, November 23rd at noon at the Agricultural Services Center in Rockingham. This is an appreciation luncheon for all farmers and elected officials, and will feature several awards and recognitions. Other events celebrating Farm-City Week are the Farmers’ Day 5K sponsored by the City of Ellerbe. The run/walk will begin at 8:30AM on Saturday November 21st, prior to the parade. Call the Ellerbe Town Hall for an entry form or more information at  (910) 652-6251.
