Collapse ▲South Central District 4-H Teen Retreat
This annual event is for all active 4-H’ers ages 13 and up. We will be spending the weekend of March 29-30 at Millstone 4-H Camp. Youth will get the chance to meet other 4-H’ers from across the district, attend fun and informative workshops, and elect the new district officers. Registration is due by March 7 at 4honline.com
Richmond County 4-H Carolina Tiger Rescue Tour
Join us on a guided tour of the Carolina Tiger Rescue on April 23, 2024. We will get to see all sorts of animals and here about how they came to the rescue. This event is for any 4-H’er ages 10+. County Activity Day
It’s time to start preparing for County Activity Day! County Activity Day is a part of 4-H’s public speak/talent competition. Youth may give a 5-7 minute presentation or demonstration on the topic of their choosing, preform a song, dance, skit, etc. as a talent, or do both. If youth place 1st or 2nd in their age group and category they are able to move on to compete at the district level. County Activity Day will take place on May 12 at the 4-H office. Richmond County 4-H Outdoor Odyssey: Canoe Blewett Falls Lake
Use a canoe to explore Blewett Falls Lake while learning about the lake’s ecology. While on the lake we will eat lunch, so please bring a bagged lunch and water. Richmond County 4-H Outdoor Odyssey: Cheraw State Park Tour
Join us on a ranger walk at Cheraw State Park. We will be leaving the 4-H office at 8:30 a.m. and returning at 12:00 p.m. We will be walking around a lake and woods at the state park, so youth should wear comfortable clothes and walking shoes and bring sunscreen, bug spray, and a bagged lunch. Richmond County 4-H Outdoor Odyssey: OTL Farms Tour
Join us on a tour of OTL Farms in Laurinburg. The owner of the farm will be giving us a tour of the 47 acer farm, which mainly grows different varieties of muscadines. We will be leaving the 4-H office at 9:00 a.m. and plan to return at 12:00 p.m. Participants should come ready to walk a lot outside. Please bring a bagged lunch, water, and comfortable shoes. Richmond County 4-H Outdoor Odyssey: Weymouth Woods
A ranger will guide us through the nature preserve and teach us to about the unique long leaf pine forest ecosystem. We will leave the 4-H office at 8:30 a.m. and plan to return at 12:10 p.m. Youth should wear hiking boots or sturdy sneakers and bring a bagged lunch and water bottle. For ages 8+. Richmond County 4-H Craftopia
Our 4-H Summer Fun crafting week. Two days will focus on sewing, two days on crochet, and one day on wood burning. Youth can sign up for just one craft or all three. All materials will be provided, but youth may bring their own if they would like. Registration and payment are due by July 1. Richmond County 4-H Sprout Scouts CloverBud Camp
A hands on gardening camp for CloverBuds (ages 5-7). Participants will have the chance to learn about growing plants, their parts, and how they taste. Each day will have different activities centered around gardening. Some activities will include tasting different edible plants. One day we will going on a tour of a local farm. Each day will start at 8:30 a.m. at the 4-H office and end at 12:00 p.m. at the 4-H office. Registration and payment is due by July 7. Register at https://SproutScouts.4honline.com
Richmond County 4-H Market to Table: Asian Cooking
On the first day of the event we will be going to an Asian market to learn about common flavors in asian cooking, buy ingredients, and eat lunch. We will leave the Cooperative Extension office at 9:30 a.m. and get back at 2:00 p.m. On day two we will be cooking several different dishes from different asian countries. We will begin at the Cooperative Extension office at 10:00 a.m. and end at 1:00 p.m. For ages 11+. Registration includes lunch on both days. Registration and payment is due by August 5.
