The Mission of the NC Agromedicine Institute

To promote the health and safety of farmers, fishermen, foresters, their workers, and their families through research, prevention/intervention, and education/outreach.

What is the NC Agromedicine Institute?

Welcome to the North Carolina Agromedicine Institute, a University of North Carolina inter-institutional institute whose partners are East Carolina University, North Carolina State University, and North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University. In addition to our university partners, the Institute relies heavily on its collaborative partnerships with the agricultural community, other universities, businesses, healthcare organizations, governmental agencies, and non-governmental organizations that are dedicated to identifying and addressing the health and safety risks of farmers, foresters, fishermen, their families and communities in North Carolina.

Our goal is to reduce injury and illness by conducting research that leads to practical solutions and developing effective educational approaches that can be of benefit daily to the end user. Ultimately we want farming, logging, and fishing workplaces to be safe and healthy for all.

Farm and Ranch Stress Assistance Network

FRSAN-NC is a partnership that connects farmers, ranchers, and others working in agriculture-related settings with stress assistance programs and resources. These connections help to improve the physical and emotional well-being of our state’s agricultural workforce.

If you or someone you know is experiencing a crisis, or in need of help connecting to resources such as financial, legal, or farm health/safety, you can call the Farm Help Line at (844)-325-3276 for assistance.
