The art of preserving fruit for spreads dates back to 11th century Middle East, according to historians.  Today, many people find the process of preserving foods to be a relaxing and therapeutic activity with the added benefit of creating something wonderful to enjoy at mealtime.

August is apple season here in North Carolina! The Apples are ripe and juicy! Apple jelly is a wonderful accompaniment to savory dishes, such as roast chicken, ham, brie, and aged cheddar cheeses, among other foods. Apple jelly is also a delicious filling for festive cakes and cookies.

Join canning aficionado, Marcus McFarland and me for a fun and relaxing hands-on experience of making your very own apply jelly to enjoy at home and share with love ones during the harvest season! Through mindful food preservation, we will discover what connects us to this amazing fruit and the fruit to us.
