4-H Youth Learn About Electrical Circuits

“This was so fun!”

“She enjoyed this project so much and can’t wait for the next one.”

“My son has asked me to go out and buy more materials so he can make more circuit projects.”

These were just a few of the comments we’ve heard from 4-H members and their parents who participated in our first Take-and-Make project of the Fall semester. After picking up a supply packet of paper and art materials, copper tape, coin cell batteries and LED lights, students met together via Zoom with 4-H Youth Director Helen Blackwell to complete an electrical circuit project.

During the session, 4-H youth learned about how to harness electricity by creating a simple circuit. They put this new information to a creative use by creating their own light-up greeting cards. Once they had each successfully gotten their template card to light up, they were challenged to create their own unique card creation using what they had learned in the session.

Some of the 4-H participants shared images of their creations, and we were de-LIGHT-ed with the results!
