Sure hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving holiday! This is our meetings time of year, and I wanted to make you aware of several upcoming events that you will need to pre-register to attend. I hope to see you at some of them. Have a safe and enjoyable upcoming Holiday season!
Monday, December 9, 2019: AgVentures (NC State University) Grant workshop NCAgVentures website; will be from 4 – 6 p.m. (no meal served) in the annex meeting room, at the N.C. Cooperative Extension, Franklin County Center, Louisburg. Maximum $8,000 grants available and must work with an Agent. This grant is taking place of RAFI grants. Applications are due mid-January.
Wednesday, December 11: Franklin County Beekeepers Association meeting will be conducted from 7 – 9:30 p.m., in the annex meeting room, N.C. Cooperative Extension, Franklin County Center, Louisburg. Topic is planning for 2020 and holiday celebration.
Tuesday, December 17: Franklin County Beef Marketing Meeting will begin at 6 p.m., with a sponsored Ribeye steak meal with all the trimmings, in the annex meeting room, N.C. Cooperative Extension, Franklin County Center, Louisburg.
Dr. Chris Prevatt, Beef Cattle and Forage Economist, Florida State Extension Specialist, will present a Zoom program on “Beef Cattle Pricing and Marketing update for 2020,” Novoyzmes is the sponsor of the meal; Bryan Blinson, Executive Director of the NCCA will also be in attendance.

Thursday, January 9, 2020: “Finding the Funds” Program will take place in the annex meeting room, N.C. Cooperative Extension, Franklin County Center, Louisburg. The registration fee is $10; Dinner will be served at 6 p.m., followed by programs from NC Soil & Water, NRCS, and Cooperative Extension (area grants); Pre-register by calling 919-496-3344 by Tuesday, January 7. Wednesday, January 15, 2020: Are you a meat vendor? This travel trip is limited to ten area meat vendors to Sharp Farms and newly renovated Flowers Processing Facility in Sims, NC. This is a morning tour, sponsored lunch, and tour of facility; To register, contact the office at 919-496-3344. Saturday, February 1: Annual EIA horse clinic will be conducted at the Farmers Market Shelter in Louisburg, with veterinarian Dr. Cole Younger, 1:30–3:30 p.m.
Saturday, February 8: Annual Successful Small Farms Opportunities Conference, Louisburg College, details coming.
Thursday evenings: February 6 – February 27; Four Zoom Forestry evening meetings on various topics will take place at the N.C. Cooperative Extension, Franklin County Center, Louisburg, 7–8:30 p.m.
