4-H Partners With Our Heroes’ Tree and Tractor Supply Company

During the month of September local 4-H’ers made ornaments to hang on Our Heroes’ Tree at the Cole Auditorium. Our Heroes’ Tree is a national initiative that bridges military and civilian communities by honoring the service and sacrifice of those who have served or are serving in the U.S. Armed Forces. The tree will be on display from now until Veteran’s Day. Please stop by and look at it or contact Richmond Community College at (910) 410-1700 for more information.

Tractor Supply Company stores in communities across the country have long supported 4-H clubs. Now that we have our own TSC here in Richmond County, things just got even better because we can contribute locally!

Each Spring and Fall, Tractor Supply Company helps raise money for 4-H programs with the Paper Clover Campaign, a national in-store fundraiser that benefits 4-H programming. Between October 3 and 14, 2018, TSC will be selling paper clovers and 90 percent of funds raised go back to state and local 4-H programs to support scholarships for camps and leadership activities for our youth.

During this 12-day fundraising event, Richmond County 4-H’ers will have an informational booth set up with general information about 4-H, popcorn, and giveaways! When school is not in session, you may see youth lending a helping hand to customers by offering to help wash their animal, taking merchandise to their vehicle, returning shopping carts, etc.

You can contribute during our Fall Paper Clover Fundraiser in several ways. One of the easiest contributions would be taking the time to visit the store between October 3-14 and talking to a 4-H member about the organization, how it has helped them in their life, or ways that you can get involved too. You can donate at the register or when checking out with an online purchase at the Tractor Supply Company website. If you cannot visit the store or make an online purchase, you can donate by phone when you call TSC Customer Solutions at 877-718-6750.

If you are a youth between the ages of 5 and 18 and are interested in joining 4-H or participating in this fundraiser, or other upcoming 4-H events, call Catherine Shelley at (910) 997-8255 or contact her by email at cgshelle@ncsu.edu. Like us on Facebook.
