Extension@YourService: 4-H D.A.D. (District Activity Day) 2017
Richmond County youth competed at the 2017 District Activity Day, hosted in Taylorsville, NC with astonishing results. Senior 4-H’er Serenity Sturdivant brought home a bronze medal with her presentation entitled, “African American Hair”. Serenity has been in 4-H for several years, but this was her first presentation at District Activity Day. Sabrina and Caroline De Aguilar also brought home a bronze medal for their team presentation entitled, “How to Make Guacamole”. Sabrina and Caroline are new members of Richmond County 4-H and this was their first presentation at District Activity Day.
DeLani Reep and Tobey Lunceford competed in the Pork Char Grill outdoor cooking competition, both bringing home a gold medal, in their age category, and advancing to State 4-H Presentation Finals. DeLani presented a pork tenderloin with pineapple and mango salsa accompanied by a fresh mango pineapple lemonade. Tobey served baby back ribs with a Cheerwine barbeque sauce. Both dishes are fantastic!
State 4-H Final Presentations will be held at the end of July in Raleigh. Presentations will kick off the State 4-H Congress where DeLani Reep and Serenity Sturdivant will represent Richmond County 4-H and participate in leadership advancement courses. Both youth have attended 4-H Congress in the past and are outstanding leaders of Richmond County 4-H.
